A Lawyer with a passion for achieving organizational performance through people, Winifred Mena Ajakpovi is a core HR professional with multi sector experience spanning the Financial sector, Telecomms and manufacturing. Her focus in all her HR roles have been deriving and aligning HR strategy to business strategy, making the link between HR and organizational performance real. She currently works as the Head of Business Partnering with Heineken (Nigerian Breweries PLC).
Prior to this, Winifred spent 9 years in MTN working in various Human Resource functions and key projects across Africa. Her HR experience profile spans across the full HR life cycle from talent attraction, management and exit. This would include Performance Management, Organization design and Talent Development, Career Management, Culture and Change programs, Learning Management and Business Partnering responsibilities. She had also worked in several banks as a HR professional and corporate Solicitor, including banks like Societe Bancaire (a French bank) and Unity Bank.
Winifred has an LLM from the university of Lagos and an MSC from Cranfield university, UK, majoring in International human Resource management with focus on expatriation, globalization and impact on labor mobility/availability. Her latest research work is on the concept of flexible working and its impact on employee engagement.
Winifred has won several awards for exceptional performance and change and is a key contributor to the human resource function in her organization.
She is a mother of 3 (Ethni aged 9, Ivana aged 7 and Jeremy aged 5). She speaks English and Ibo fluently and still on the journey to learning French and Yoruba! Lol.
