ABC (AUTISM AND BREAST CANCER AWARENESS) ZUMBATHON
October 1/2015. Oriental Hotel. More than 350 men and women gathered, defying the rain to dance for a worthy cause, the ABC Zumbathon was conceptualised and executed by the Inspired Women of Worth Network working from different locations including the UK, South Africa, Canada, U.S. And Nigeria . Powered consistently for 4 years previously as a Breast Cancer Awareness Zumbathon, this year IWOW founder Udo Okonjo encouraged the Zumbathon team to dream bigger and expand the scope to include its’ already impactful Autism to Genius Awareness project which typically holds in April. By merging the two Autism and Breast Cancer Awareness, the ABC Zumbathon was born and successfully executed on the 1st of October by a dedicated and selfless team, led by Rita Unuigboje and supported by Co-Coordinator Nene Olaoluwa with other IWOW and external volunteers. Media Team was made up of Tolu Moyan and Adaeze Obiozor.
The main Sponsors included Fine and Country and Valmont Premium water whose mission is “LIVE PURE” along with Green Butterfly, Access W, FuZion Fitness our ever incredible lead Zumbathon champions and so many media partners including Ebony LiveTV, Bella Naija& This Day Style. Genevieve Pink Foundation also donated 5 free Surgeries and Chemotherapy for 5 patients to be nominated by IWoW.
Lanre Olusola also donated sessions to women affected. Numerous donations came in and sponsors were as generous as ever.
Cycology as always graced the event having ridden for the ABC cause that rainy morning, and committing further to ride at least twice a year for ABC Awareness.
The Z Team, too numerous to mention here, are truly the world’s best! Team Z 2015 you truly rock!!!!!
Ps. We are still raising funds to ensure we sponsor at least 5 kids on the Autism Spectrum (whose families can’t afford it) to study at a special needs school to enhance their chances of recovery and functioning more effectively. Please feel free to inbox me. Nothing is too little.
#ABCZUMBATHON will remain an annual event to be held on October 1st.
